70 years ago the largest air and amphibious assault, D-Day, took place on the Normandy coast of France. In all 13,000 Allied aircraft and 5,000 ships began the invasion of Europe that would lead to the defeat of Hitler and NAZI Germany. Most of the aircraft in the assault featured nose art on the front of the plane. Some were whimsical, but most featured voluptuous women with clever names. This was not the politically correct era we live in today, so this was acceptable. Many of these talented artists found work after the war in the graphic arts or advertising business. So we salute all the veterans living and deceased who fought for our freedom.
